Group Projects (disclaimer: this is a rant)

I HATE GROUP ACCOUNTABILITY!!!!

In my literature history class on friday we get thrown a curveball assignment where our groups have to get together and create a review sheet for two assigned authors so that the group can study and our teacher can make a test from it. Well that's hunky dory, I wouldn't mind the assignment if we had been told in advance. Assigned friday due sunday or monday.

I also wouldn't mind it if it wasn't on a weekend. No one wants to get together to do a group project on a weekend. So I decided to take charge and create a google doc for it so we don't have to meet in person. Then guess what?

Movements Start Small

So many times we as Americans we say how something in society or culture bugs us but we never feel like we can make a difference. Today I heard a great story and had a great experience about how individuals can make a difference.

Under My Umbrella-ella-ella

My first 3D Design project: Wire sculpture of a closed umbrella :) It was very tedious but it turned out cool. I'll update on what grade I got.

It's kind of hard to capture in a picture.

Pinterest Fun: Fur Vest & Dyed Shirts

So I am obsessed with pinterest...as you probably have noticed :)

My friends and I decided to do some crafts today :) We decided we wanted to do this project: Link it was really fun!!! We went to Hobby Lobby and got large shirts and dye. Kylie already had the blue glue here's how it turned out:

While we were at hobby lobby I thought of this project: Link and how I really wanted to do it and so I did. Here:

So I bought the full 2 yards and obviously it can't be a perfect circle so I ended up with a long oval and cut off a good amount. I think if you wanted a smaller vest then you could do it with just one yard. Sorry for the bad picture just threw it on to take a picture :)

Civil Disobedience

Okay so for my literature class we were assigned to read "Resistance to Civil Government" by Thoreau.
WOW! I must say this is a truly amazing piece of art! This is definitely the most inspiring essays I have read in a long time! I just couldn't put down my highlighter when I was reading and I am going to talk about a few of the quotes I grabbed from it.

Humanity

Sometimes it's easy (for me at least) to forget that those I don't know or who are different from me are so very much the same in many ways. I sometimes get in a rut of a "us" and "them" attitude. I need to really knock it off. I'm just glad that God gives me little perspective moments. I feel like I do this way too much with the Asian girls on my floor. I need to be better. They are just as much beautiful young college girls as I am. -shrug- I'll be better.

First Day of a New Semester

I got up way too early...6:45...my first class is at 9:30...I guess I was excited or something. Plus if I get in the habit of getting up early it will be good, I can start a good early morning workout plan.

I'm a bit more nervous this morning than I have been the whole break about today. I mean with 10 minute breaks between classes it makes me a little nervous. Oh and the fact that I am renting books for the first time and they wont be here till the second week of school...hopefully my teacher has some copies on reserve at the library.

I don't know...just nervous...should probably say a little prayer or something. I guess I need to learn to lean on God more and not try to muscle through everything on my own. Okay girl...humbling moment.

T-Shirt Scarf

Like my pinterest post said I am addicted. Well I have decided that any of the crafts I do from Pinterest I am going to put on my blog :) so yeah.
So this is my result for my t-shirt scarf and I think it turned out marvelously. Here is the link to the tutorial I followed :) It's way fun and cute! I think I'll start rounding up my old shirts I don't wear anymore and do t-shirt crafts :)
That's all for today
